This Memes Something!

From [livejournal.com profile] anacrusis (original author) -- let's meme this to hell & back and see if the blogosphere makes it happen.

Comedy Central. Your time is now.

We have no debates. Our debates are a sham. What's more, we have no prospect of their being a presidential debate at any point during this (and probably future) elections.

So here's what you need to do. Find a smart, eloquent, possibly slightly hip, guy from each party who supports their candidate and can say why that is. Put em in a room with John Stewart MCing, with a panel of real journalists, the kind who won't be allowed to ask question in the debate. Throw hardballs. Let em call each other names. End it in a steel cage match for all i care.

But make it a publicized, meaningful debate, where people are smart enough to say "no, that's bullshit, how about a real answer?" right there on TV.

It'd probably be a rating flop, but I hold out a tiny sliver of hope. It's something I'd watch.

And What scares me most is that I can trust no other network but Comedy Central to do such a thing.

If you agree with this, put it in your journal. Or your webpage. Or...wherever.

I might agree if you mean Jon Stewart. I'm not sure who John Stewart is.

Oh I know, I was just kidding.

Though it's not quite factually correct, either. We are having debates, unless they've been cancelled in the last few minutes.

Wow

That was vaguely useless, not really that funny, and really. Not half as clever as your manshower icon.

Nice go on completely missing a good point just to be an asshole.

Wow.

Way to take a comment in someone else's journal (a comment that was made in jest) and take it personally, calling me an asshole, just to be an asshole yourself.

I do agree that it's a good point. I don't think I did any damage to the message. I apologize to [livejournal.com profile] merlinofchaos for sending useless comments to his e-mail box, mine and yours.

Of course, this bullshit is working for Bush, and I've yet to see evidence that Kerry wants to be President, other than him earnestly claiming to (he's certainly not pointing out all of the ways in which Bush has flip-flopped from his campaign promises, for example), so why would they deviate from the farce we're supposed to be watching tonight? It convinces the gullible that they have a choice, after all...
