I created a dreamwidth account for no really good reason, other than vaguely noticing that a bunch of people on my friends list have potentially moved there. But I'm not really sure who has. For some it's been several years. It imported my content pretty flawlessly, though, and it appears to crosspost well, so there's no really good reason not to have it.
