A few weeks ago I was browsing Showtime's upcoming, looking for movies I might want to TiVo and watch later. At that exact moment, they were doing a short marathon of the 3 episodes of Dead Like Me that had aired. I caught the very end of the first one and only parts of the other two because I was somewhat distracted at the time.

The show intrigued me immediately because it had the name "Mandy Patinkin" in it, and I haven't seen him in anything since Alien Nation. I was kind of curious what he's up to.

Well, the show is about a bunch of dead people. Technically undead, though they don't have most of the advantages or disadvantages of being undead (except that they seem basically impervious to long-term damage). The main character is George (Georgia) who, in the pilot, gets killed by a toilet seat that fell off of Mir. Now she's a Grim Reaper, and she has to go around 'popping' the souls of specific people who are about to die.

She also has to eat, sleep, get a day job. She gets to see her family continue without her, but can't really interact with them because bad things happen if she does. The show is both dark and funny at the same time, and I've been watching it like roadkill, not really sure why I continue but becoming more and more fond of the show with every episode. If you get Showtime, you should try it out.
