The Unknown
As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know.

—Sec. Def. Donald Rumsfeld, Feb. 12, 2002, Department of Defense news briefing
From [livejournal.com profile] anacrusis (original author) -- let's meme this to hell & back and see if the blogosphere makes it happen.

Comedy Central. Your time is now.

We have no debates. Our debates are a sham. What's more, we have no prospect of their being a presidential debate at any point during this (and probably future) elections.

So here's what you need to do. Find a smart, eloquent, possibly slightly hip, guy from each party who supports their candidate and can say why that is. Put em in a room with John Stewart MCing, with a panel of real journalists, the kind who won't be allowed to ask question in the debate. Throw hardballs. Let em call each other names. End it in a steel cage match for all i care.

But make it a publicized, meaningful debate, where people are smart enough to say "no, that's bullshit, how about a real answer?" right there on TV.

It'd probably be a rating flop, but I hold out a tiny sliver of hope. It's something I'd watch.

And What scares me most is that I can trust no other network but Comedy Central to do such a thing.

If you agree with this, put it in your journal. Or your webpage. Or...wherever.
