But I will try to come up with a few.

I'd been planning, sometime today, to write a year in review or something, since it's been a big year with some major ups and a some major downs. Unfortunately, though, the first news I get when I wake up this morning is that Broncos' starting cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting that included a hail of bullets.

D-Will, as he was known to his teammates, was an immensely talented cornerback who was able to be productive even though he was only 5'8". He had a fairly bad season this year because the Broncos' soft zone defense exposed a couple of his weaknesses; however, as a second year corner, he still had some time to improve, and to be fair he played across from Champ Bailey who is, at least this year, undisputably the best cornerback in the league.

Last year, he had an absolutely fantastic rookie season, and he and another guy he was drafted with (Dominique Foxworth) were looking to have a long and productive career in the NFL. Alas, D-Will, who was only 24, won't have any kind of career now.

This is not how I expected, or wanted, to start my New Year.
