Today is day 63, so just more than two months on the plan.

I'm currently down right about 25 pounds, and my waistline hasn't changed this week. I did pretty terribly for eating over the weekend -- we had a visitor, there was much food making, and I enjoyed myself immensely. I never went TOO far over, and the scale is staying steady this week (actually down slightly but only slightly). I straightened things back up yesterday, now that the houseguest is gone, and will attempt to do better this week. That said, I've had an awful craving for sweets the last few days, and have had mixed success in fighting it off.

The knee is improving, inch by inch, bit by bit. I'm trying to take really good care of it so that the Disneyland trip in just over a week isn't murder, but I suspect it will be. On the other hand, I've done Disneyland while my back was really terrible, and this is, at its worst, not as bad as that was. That means I'm still not getting much exercise, but my daily step counts are up a bit more. I can move at roughly 80% speed, it's just that right now my knee has very little stamina and if I walk for very long on it, it starts to ache. At some point I know I'm going to need to push that, but everything I've read says to take it slow on this kind of injury.

I'll hopefully get a confirmation from a doctor soon, but my self-diagnosis is pes anserine bursitis/tendonitis, which is a common injury for people with tight hamstrings and people with low back injuries. Both of these things are probably related. It responds well to ice and heat, and I'm alternating both pretty regularly, along with a stretching program to try and keep tension off of it. I think the tightness of my hamstrings exacerbates the whole thing.

My surgery is in a month. While I'll no longer by calorie limiting myself during the recovery, for at least the first week I'll be calorie limited by the fact that it'll be hard to get calories down, since I'm likely to have a diet of almost exclusively smoothies and cold drinks for the first few days. Plus, codeine usually throws my stomach off for a bit.

So. Keep on trucking. I'm definitely not going to make my goal of being down to 270 before the surgery, but if things go well 275 isn't unreasonable. Right now I'll be happy to get under 280.
