It's been so hot that I've lost most of my appetite. Seriously, the last couple days I've felt nauseous most of the time, except around mealtimes when I alternate between hunger and nausea.

Today I skipped town with my wonderful sweetie for a bit, and left the oppressive heat behind for some beach-laying. We bailed on the hot house and drove randomly north, not really sure where we were going. We ended up at Stinson beach, where we got a good bit of exercise in looking for a place to buy sunscreen. Then we lounged about on the beach and I oggled the scnery a bit. Turns out the beach we picked is a hot spot for college chicks. Sadly there was less scenery for [livejournal.com profile] esmerel to oggle, much to her disappointment.

Then we drove up to point reyes, and found a spot that was actually cold. Yes, the wind coming off the ocean on that rock was too chilly for the two of us to stay there long. The car, however, was still quite warm. Most distressing.

Amusing tidbits along the way:

Up at point reyes, we stopped in a little parking lot for the lighthouse (which was closed) and the car i parked behind was honking as though its car alarm was going off. The odd thing was that an older couple was in the process of getting out of the car. The older gentleman looked around through glasses so thick his eyes looked anime-large, casually ignored the horn and led his (presumably) wife away up a trail. All the while everyone in the lot is glaring at him because his car is making a god-awful noise. Given the vacant stare in his eyes, I'm not sure if he didnt know the horn was going off, didn't understand the horn going off was his car, knew but didn't know how to turn the horn off, or simply didn't give a rat's ass. The world will never know.

We stopped in Olema for dinner. Sadly all I was able to eat was 2 pieces of bread, 2 shrimp from the appetizer, and one strip of the fish and some coleslaw. I felt stuffed before I made it to the fish. Well, I did have 3 oreos about 30 minutes before dinner.

As we were leaving, we discovered (sadly too late) that the place had an excellent list of beers on tap, and we were disappointed we hadn't thought to ask.

On the way back, we drove through Lagunitas. This is only meaningful because there's a good local brewery there. Conveniently named Lagunitas Brewing Company.

Actually, upon checking their website, they're actually in Petaluma, which is not far away.

Finally, I managed to get sunburn from my sockline down, because I didn't think to apply sunscreen when I took my socks off. I think I also burned my scalp a bit, but that is not abnormal.

Please please please let it not be distressingly hot tomorrow.

Oh, and I didn't start chapter 15 yet. Sorry.
