[livejournal.com profile] esmerel already wrote a good response to why a female author in Time magazine thinks so.

Personally, I think this article is mistitled. It should have been titled "Why shallow women hate Sarah Palin," since it seems to have more to do with why the squre kids hated the cheerleaders in highschool than why constituents form opinions about politicians. I have a different theory as to why women hate Sarah Palin in one (overly long and complex) sentence:

They are afraid that she will simply perpetuate the stereotype that women are best used for their looks and not their ability; that she is simply another facet of the old "flutter your eyelashes and smile and you'll impress 'em" only instead of fluttering eyelashes it's being "folksy" and connecting with people without actually offering a position or actual detail or evidence.

In other words, she's being an old stereotype and she could very well *set back* women's equality in politics by perpetuationg a stereotype that people like Hillary Clinton have been working for decades to reject.

But what do I know? I'm just a guy and I see things through my own filters. On the plus side, I suppose we can agree on one thing: all of us mentioned here hate Sarah Palin. =)
