The scale is maddeningly stuck in the 268-269 range. I'm off the CPAP for either a month or forever, depending. And the running program is going well, with a bonus addition!
I'm on track, on plan. I'm eating a hundred or two calories over my goal, but I'm putting in the exercise to offset that so it should not be an issue. But the scale is staying still.
However, my waistline is reducing again, so I'm going to go with the probable explanation that increased exercise is increasing muscle at a similar rate to fat decrease. Clearly, if the waistline decreases, we're getting a win. At some point it will balance out and the scale will start going back down.
But even so, that gets me further and further from reaching my end of year goal.
On the exercise front, I skipped through week 2 of the plan and I just completed week 3 of the plan this morning, and I start week 4 of the plan on Friday. My week 3 is adding a couple of bonus minutes of running at the end, so week 4 isn't likely to be too different -- it has two 5 minute running intervals.
Week 5 is where the intervals start to go long, though, ending the week with a 15 minute run interval. I'm a little worried about stepping up from 5 minute intervals so quickly to a 15, and I do have the option of repeating workouts, so I might step it up more slowly; my biggest concern on the intervals is not overtaxing my lungs and ended up with an asthmatic reaction. I do have a prescribed inhaler now, so we will see.
I've convinced C to start training with me. She did a reduced version of week 1 on the treadmill yesterday. In order to make things easier for her, I got the module that lets me program the workout, and I can schedule them. So all she has to do is select her user, hit the workout, and start. She watches a video while she's running and she did really well. I've got a huge head start on her in the sense that I've been doing a pretty serious walking regimen since June and have been working hard to build up my stamina.
But she's 8 and her body should react and adapt far, far more quickly than mine will. So if she keeps up with it, I predict she'll not only catch up with me but pass me. If she chooses to. She's been promised treasure box trips, and if we both keep it up, I've suggested maybe we'll do a 5K together. There's a few interesting runs that we could do, and even if we do it in intervals, we should be able to manage a 5K in 45 minutes or less.
Lastly, after my appointment with my pulmonologist last week, I went back off the CPAP. We want to re-test me, but because it has been stenting open my airway, the test will not give accurate results unless I'm fully off it. So I am off it until at least Nov 11, the day after my test. But last time, it took them quite awhile to actually get me the results, but these days there's an electronic messaging system they're using so I might get the results right away.
In any case, off it for the last week and I don't feel any particularly ill effects. If I were I think the running program would be very hard to manage. We'll see if my mental state starts to degrade, but even if I do still need the CPAP, any apnea I have leftover must be very mild. In the worst case, I think it's something I can do without travelling, but might have to keep using at home. But at the moment, I think it's just as, even more likely that I'll put it away when this is done and never use it again.
Particularly if I continue losing weight. That can only improve the situation. The pulmonologist was pretty emphatic about my recent weight loss certainly being a factor, and to keep it up.

Date: 2015-10-14 08:29 pm (UTC)If you want to do a fun 5K with a kid, my friends have been doing the Disney themed runs with their family for the last few years. It's a run that goes through the Disney park before it opens (and then out onto streets). They have different themes, like Avengers or Star Wars or Princess. The 5K sells out fast, so it's a bit hard to get into, but my friends have had lots of fun doing them.
