Drunen pointed this one out to me. It's a petition to get Congress to pay attention to a particular piece of legislation that would very slightly improve copyright law in that it would require active participation to to extend old copyrights; in particular, it would help preserve old movies where the copyright owners can't even be located, before the film stock deteriorates to uselessness due to age.

Is there any evidence that online petitions ever do any good? I'm not talking about fan campaigns to save shows (which are organized online), like the one that saved Roswell.

I think it would be more effective if people were urged to contact their representative in Congress.

But this is definitely an important issue and I wish Congress wouldn't keep bowing to big copyright holders like Disney so nothing ever passes into the Public Domain.
