I won't bore everyone with it, but I am on the Battlestar Galactica bandwagon.
So far...'tis amazing. I am happy.
Also, believe it or not, Enterprise has made a 100% change-of-course turnaround and has actually been good
this season. Well, some of the complaints people have had about the cast simply aren't going to go away, but
nothing can be done about that. But the horrible, awful direction it'd been heading...well, they've clearly
dropped all that.
Thank goodness.
For those of you who like Trek and are at least a little open-minded, it is worth a second try. For those
of you whose biggest problem was how the Vulcans were acting, they dealt with that in-character, and
told a pretty cool story while doing so.

Date: 2005-01-31 07:11 pm (UTC)I generally don't watch tv. I'm actually sorta interested in the current storyline.

Date: 2005-01-31 06:56 pm (UTC)I have a box with something custom that I've always intended to turn into a media player, but time/interest/equipment have always held me back.
Now software has advanced significantly, and I may consider a mythTV box instead of what I was going to do (custom software, because nothing out there does exactly what I want)

Date: 2005-01-31 07:00 pm (UTC)I know what you mean. It looks like MythTV may finally have enough neatness for it to be worthwhile - the built-in DiVX player is neat for me, and support for the Hauppage PVR-350 hardware mpeg2 encoder is sweet.

Date: 2005-01-31 08:37 pm (UTC)Even Squeak is tolerable. Go figure.
And Glactica is just cool. Starbuck is my hero(ine).
One last cautious query: Are you enjoying Atlantis too? 'Cause I am.

Date: 2005-01-31 08:43 pm (UTC)My only complaint
Date: 2005-01-31 10:53 pm (UTC)The original Starbuck drank hard, gambled hard, and womenized because he was a fighter pilot. He felt his mortality and felt his life was short, so he indulged heavily. This new "She's indulging in excess to deal with the pain" nonsense is not nearly as good, in my humble opinion.
Re: My only complaint
Date: 2005-01-31 10:54 pm (UTC)Also, I love the interaction between Starbuck and Col. Tigh.
Glad you decided to drink the Kool-Aid...
Date: 2005-01-31 11:40 pm (UTC)Though, gotta say, my favorite exchange has been between Tigh and the kid:
"Were's your mother?"
"Dead. Where's yours?"
Ah, such wonder...though I've gotta say, this series ain't gonna last long if they keep killing off people at the rate they're going...
Re: Glad you decided to drink the Kool-Aid...
Date: 2005-02-01 03:12 am (UTC)But there's a lot of foreshadowing.
