I spent some time flipping through LiveJournal's styles because the Classic style I've been using is pretty much stuck in the stone ages.
Unfortunately, they all suck in some way or other that I find really just irritating. Most of them really lack usability in some important fashion, lots of them having to do with negative spacing, gutters, etc, but some of them simply being that placement isn't actually conducive to reading. And lots of journals like to use really wide linespacing which makes the paragraphs all blend together for me, which I find very hard to read. Maybe it's simply due to what I'm used to.
Nonetheless, I've gone ahead and fiddled a bit with LJ's style system and kind of slammed together something that'll work. OF course, since they have their own bloody language it's not particularly simple to come up with a new style, so I really just took a base style and hacked things to roughly the way I like them. I'm not completely happy with it, but for me it's better than all the existing styles. That really ain't sayin' that much, honestly. I'm not a designer and while I can do some little things well, I have trouble with big picture stuff sometimes.
